Manila, Philippines --The Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN) paid a courtesy call to the Chancellor’s office for the setting up of AeHIN Interoperability Laboratory in UP Manila last October 18.

A memorandum of agreement was signed between the two parties through Dr. Boonchai Kijsanayotin, AeHIN Chair, and Dr. Arlene Samaniego, UP Manila Vice Chancellor for Administration on behalf of UP Manila Chancellor, Dr. Carmencita Padillla, at the National Telehealth Center.

In line with AeHIN’s efforts to support countries with their ehealth development, they are putting up a community of interoperability laboratories (COIL) starting with the Philippines. This AeHIN Interoperability Laboratory, which will be based in UP Manila, will be managed by AeHIN Executive Director and UP Manila Technology Transfer and Business Development Office Director, Dr. Alvin Marcelo.

The laboratory is expected to facilitate the connection of the Department of Health electronic medical record system, iClinicSys, with the RxBox telemedicine and diagnostic device.
